Lore
In the magical world, there exist 9 kingdoms and the capital. The capital has 13 royal families who have shifting allegiances with other kingdoms. These royal families are humans with no special power, except the ability to wield the mantle.
What is the mantle? To understand the importance of the mantle, we must understand the Ogremare.
Long time ago, to the earliest memory of all life, a tear opened up in the magical realm, and a a being known as Ogremare came through, casting the people into a long sleep full of nightmare as the world descend into eternal night. Only one man was able to stand up to the Ogremare and resist it. The man, Autian was able to defeat the Ogremare but then after a while, the tear appear in another place.
Slowly, the tear was getting bigger and it became apparent that his ability might be needed in the future, hence the mantle was created with Autian's soul with the help of the 9 kingdoms, each imbuing the mantle with their essence.
And once a new King is crowned, he is given the mantle, which gives the King the knowledge and ability of the 9 souls and Autian's. Although, the general public thinks that the mantle is an extension of the King, in truth, Autian overrides the person, and the wielder of the mantle is essentially a vessel for Autian. This secret is known only to the topmost echelon of the King's circle or druids.
Why did they keep doing this? Because roughly every 100 years, the tear gets big enough for the Ogremare to come out, and they rely on Autian to defeat the Ogremare.
Twist
Autian created the tear, in a bid to keep the Kingdom in control. In fact, he has the ability to determine where the tear appears, and uses it as a tool to keep himself in power and keep the people mute. If any Kingdom is getting rebellious or too powerful, he initiates the tear in that Kingdom, making sure they need him as the few creatures beyond the tear seeps through, and of course, ultimately, the Ogremare.
Before
Emperor Plunius was at the height of oppression, causing the people to rebel. Plunius steps down to allow a new King but a new faction has arisen, who believe that it's time to do away with the mantle causing in fighting amongst the rebel.
Eventually, the monarchist won, with Emperor Tarvo becoming the new King but he lacks ability to wield the mantle. The fight has been on for so long, and Tarvo has been regarded as the de facto Emperor, Tarvo wasn't ready to give up his position. His commander, and the man behind the power, Attinute was really the one calling the shots, and has seen Tarvo as a good puppet.
Attinute tries to take control of the mantle, hence the guardian leaves the magical world with it, somewhere beyond the reach of the throne, and find the descendant of the lost royal family who apparently left the Kingdom long time ago to have a normal life. Though it was far stretched, they hope to find someone compatible with the mantle and use the person to take over the Empire once more.
Eventually, they found a candidate! Kenny's father. But Kenny's father was aware of their origin and the true nature of the mantle, which meant Emperors are merely pawns, and the royal family is merely a pawn or tool for Autian. Kenny's ancestors has kept the secret for so long and passed it down more as a legend. Of course, the appearance of Want, Adisa and co with magic confirms it.
Realising that Kenny or his father is their last hope, they killed Kenny's father and mum, making Kenny an orphan, hoping to come back when Kenny is mature enough to give him the mantle.
Now

While Kenny loves his uncle (Orvin), he wants to be more like Wang, and saving money to go to the university as Wang practically homeschool him.

Part 6

Part 7
Feeling guilty about the sacrifice, Kenny left abandoning the war for good. Instead, he decided to become a superhero. His religious followers (due to mantle) switches sides after the murder of Emperor Tarvo. The murder of Emperor Tarvo is part of the new coalition's plan, and the people who were part of the old government realises that gaining the new coalition will more than offset the loss of Tarvo.
Part 8
Kenny went solo, to fight on his own terms as a vigilante. Complete shift in momentum, Kenny's war side is losing as his friends continue to fight in his name.
Part 9
Kenny's popularity continues to rise, and people began to rebel in the name of Kenny. Kingdoms with rebellion have two options, quash the rebellion or switch sides.
- Some who try to quash the rebellion loses and overtaken by those with allegiance with Kenny
- Some succeeded but not in any position to support government or even lose to neighbouring Kingdoms who are sympathetic to Kenny
- Those who switch sides are forced to fight the central government, with varying success, some are able to defend their Kingdoms, some loses their leaders but rebellion continues, stretching the central government
Part 10
The dark night approaches. Earlier in the story, Kenny realises why the mantle is truly revered. There is an evil being, known as ogremare, about every 100 years, he comes and put everyone in nightmare, and the only person who can defeat him is the mantle. After ogremare is defeated, he disappears, but then shortly after, a "tear" in space appears randomly anywhere in the magical world, and the tear becomes bigger and bigger over time. As the tear becomes bigger, more and more dangerous beast escapes through the tear until the ogremare himself appears. So as part of the culture, whenever the mantle defeats the ogremare, there will be a large scale search for the next tear, until it's found. There is usually a large military strength around the tear to protect the people from the tear and the beasts that comes out of this tear. It's believed that all the evil in this world came from those tears, and sometimes, a beast escapes the tear and the guards altogether.
Suggestion for names of different beasts.
The current tear is in the druid, and it's getting out of hand, so the druids needs Kenny's help, and negotiates with him. The thing is that the druids were desperate for the mantle, that is why they are adamant on wanting the mantle back. Kenny promises to help, although he doesn't know how yet
Part 11
Kenny has been communicating directly with the mantle, and is getting desperate as the night is getting longer, indicating that ogremare is near. Kenny is worried the world will be usurped in the eternal nightmare. The mantle promises to help Kenny if he "released him", meaning the mantle will be able to take over Kenny's body.
Eventually, Kenny was about to give in, and decided to talk to Isabella one last time, his best friend. After an heart to heart, maybe some romantic spark. Isabella was sad, not just because she might lose Kenny but also because the sacrifice to safe Kenny was futile.
During their talk, Kenny learn a lot about the mantle, and then it hit him, the tear is a means of control. Realising that the people who are most rebellious towards the mantle tend to end up with the tear, which coincidentally requires the King's guard to protect the realm. Furthermore, he remain important because of the tear and the tear is as old as the mantle itself.
Kenny surmised that it was the mantle that created the tear! Kenny went to his mind-scape and challenged the mantle. The mantle admitted it, but said it doesn't matter, he is the only one capable of stopping the tear.
Part 12
Kenny means with his former allies, and told them everything. Divisions arises, some believed him while others are against him. Adisa switched back to Kenny's side, and began advising him. She insisted that Kenny must still play the role of the mantle.
Despite knowing the truth, Kenny gives people ultimatum, leave the central government or let the eternal night happen. The central government tries to attack and crush Kenny once and for all, but coalition began to fall. Kenny defeats the government, and is crowned the new Emperor.
Part 13
Kenny is now the new Emperor, and heads to Druid-land to fight cocomare, as the eternal night starts. Still not sure how to defeat coco, Isabella does her research.
Isabella finally figures it out while Kenny fights
Part 14
The secret is to destroy the mantle. Kenny retreats and destroy the mantle. Eternal nights abate, and the tear is mended.
Part 15
Kenny steps down for a democratic government he initiated. Several years has passed, yet no tear has appear, as promised by Kenny who promised. Perhaps Kenny is now married to Isabella, and they name their first Chidi?
